Ingredients Matter.
If you cook, or just enjoy your food, you know that ingredients matter. Fresh, organic, seasonal fare make the best tasting dishes. We now know they are also the best for our health ~ our bodies can better access the nutrients in this type of food. Similarly, what we put on our skin is important. We absorb good, and unfortunately bad, ingredients transdermally, or through the skin.
My beautiful mother in-law has long understood this premise intuitively. Way before we became universally aware of the fact that ingredients matter, my mother in-law, Beverly, has sought out the best ingredients in food and skincare. And has done so on a schoolteacher’s budget, forever reminding me that quality is always attainable. This lifestyle has served her exceptionally well. Bev has the energy of 3 of me! She has traveled to every continent on the planet, some more than once. At a spry 82, she bikes many miles most days, and often swims. I have a photo of her hula-hooping in Brazil from not too long ago. Armed with a great sense of humor, Beverly is engaged and engaging. Hearing someone with anything other than an American accent, she’ll inquire where they are from, and more often than not speak of her travel to that very place. Healthy ~ the best word to describe her!
My brilliant Sharla Skin cosmetic chemist has long studied the skin’s ability to absorb nutrients. So many of the ingredients that we aspire to consume are equally beneficial applied to the surface of the skin. In fact, all of Sharla Skin products include seaweed which has 10,000X the concentration of seawater in terms of mineral content ~ beneficial sodium, magnesium, potassium, iodine and other trace elements. Topical application of brown algae is beneficial in the treatment of skin cancer according to a study from Ohio State. Red algae, aka astaxanthin, is a powerful antioxidant able to calm rosacea and eczema. Very thoughtful deliberation on the contents of Sharla Skin products mean that we truly believe ingredients matter.
